Giving Back Guide features 77 nonprofits and their funding needs

The 2026 Giving Back Guide is here! Readers are invited to learn more about 77 area nonprofits and their funding needs in this annual magazine from the Community Foundation of Harrisonburg and Rockingham.

This resource is promoted to TCFHR fundholders, professional advisors, and the general public in print and digital form. TCFHR utilizes the guide as a tool in donor conversations throughout the year. Many donor-advised grants as well as gifts from community members are made to local organizations as a result of this resource.

This year, the guide has a new easy-to-find and easy-to-share URL: www.givingbackguide.org

The submission process is voluntary. Nonprofits located in and serving Harrisonburg and Rockingham County are invited to access the submission application and share about their organization’s mission, vision, accomplishments and funding needs. View criteria here.

"This magazine is yet another community-building project supported by our generous fundholders to raise awareness about the amazing work of nonprofits here in the Valley and all the ways we can support them, from offering financial resources to volunteer opportunities and board or advisory services," said Lauren Jefferson, director of programs and marketing.

Limited print copies are available at the TCFHR office at 317 South Main Street.

"With the rise in print costs, we're devoting more of our project budget to spreading the word about the digital edition," Jefferson said. "We also appreciate opportunities through our local media outlets to spread the word about the digital resource. It's easy to use and much more sustainable for our environment."

In 2027, production will shift to a spring and summer cycle, with the submission window opening May 1 and closing June 30.

"The Giving Back Guide production process is a publicity opportunity that includes a lot of data collection and as such, has unique editorial demands," Jefferson said. "Separating this process from our grant cycle also makes sense for our non-profit partners and will allow us to circulate the guide as year-end giving is ramping up, rather than in the middle of this important season."

Thanks again to Jon Styer and the At Ease Design Co. crew for their design work.
