FLSA update: Strategies to Prepare for the DOL?s
New Minimum Salary by January 1, 2020
Presented by:
Cathy Welsh, Attorney at Law
Flora Pettit PC
On September 24, 2019, the U.S. Department of Labor published final rules that raise the minimum salary threshold for the administrative, executive and professional overtime exemptions to $35,568 (or $684 per week) effective January 1, 2020. While this minimum salary threshold is better for businesses and non-profits than the $47,476 annually (or $913 per week) proposed by the Obama Administration, the new final regulations will still have a significant impact on businesses and non-profits in our area. Cathy Welsh of Flora Pettit will educate Chamber members on the final rules, how to best implement them, what to do with employees who fall below the threshold, and what else is expected from the DOL.
