Exhibit Opening with Mayor Deanna Reed

Join us on Thursday, May 30th at 7pm for a reception to celebrate the opening of "Strong Men & Women in Virginia History," a traveling exhibit honoring African-American leaders in Virginia.
Guest of Honor will be Mayor Deanna Reed, who is one of this year’s recipients of the annual "Strong Men & Women in Virginia History" awards.
In addition, the event will feature the unveiling of a new book of poetry and personal writings by students from the On the Road VOICES class. Two students from Thomas Harrison Middle School and Harrisonburg High School will read selections from the book.
Following remarks by Mayor Reed, attendees are invited to enjoy refreshments while exploring the exhibit which highlights the lives and accomplishments of all seven of this year’s honorees. The reception is free and open to everyone; students are especially encouraged to attend.
The "Strong Men & Women in Virginia History" exhibit will be on display at the Central Library in downtown Harrisonburg from May 30 through June 29. This exhibition from the Library of Virginia is made possible with support from Dominion Energy.
