Director of Operations

OVERVIEW:

Director of Operations will oversee and optimize our operations across all divisions within InterChange. The Director of Operations will play a critical role in driving efficiency, innovation, and excellence in service delivery, aligning with our Cultural Keystones and Work Principles.

REPORTS TO: Chief Operating Officer

WORK HOURS:

Monday-Friday: 8:00am to 5:00pm

Must be willing to occasionally work outside “normal” hours and travel to customers, events, and related training/industry opportunities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement strategic plans and initiatives to drive operational excellence, aligning with the InterChange’s Cultural Keystones, Work Principles, and strategic objectives.
  • Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing operations team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Divisional Oversight: Provide strategic direction and guidance to the Cold, Dry, and Express/Trucking divisions, ensuring seamless coordination and alignment of operations.
  • Continuous Improvement and Process Optimization: Identify opportunities for process improvement, efficiency gains, and cost optimization across all aspects of operations.
  • Quality Assurance: Establish and maintain rigorous quality assurance standards to uphold the highest levels of service and compliance with industry regulations.
  • Customer Success: Collaborate closely with the sales and customer experience teams to understand customer needs and ensure the delivery of exceptional service that exceeds expectations.
  • Technology Integration: Evaluate, implement, and leverage technology solutions to enhance operational efficiency, visibility, customer experience, automation and sustainability.
  • Performance Monitoring: Develop and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and track operational performance, providing regular reports and insights to executive leadership.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate operational risks, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Partner/Vendor Management: Build and maintain strategic relationships with vendors and partners to optimize service delivery and cost-effectiveness.
  • Budgeting and Financial Management: Work closely with finance and accounting teams to develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial targets for operations.
  • Project management and facility maintenance oversight including preventative maintenance and procurement
  • Active participation in key InterChange industry groups and organizations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field; MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in operations management within the logistics or supply chain industry.
  • Proven track record of driving operational excellence, process improvement, and cost optimization.
  • Strong leadership with a high level of emotional intelligence and team-building skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Solid understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance standards in logistics and transportation.
  • Experience with implementing and leveraging technology solutions to enhance operations.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
