About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced Director of Finance to join our leadership team in Harrisonburg. This full-time, on-site role is key to guiding our company’s financial strategy and supporting continued growth. You’ll work closely with the CEO and executive team to ensure strong financial health, compliance, and efficient operations across all projects.
What You’ll Do
As Director of Finance, you’ll serve as a strategic advisor and hands-on leader, managing all aspects of financial planning and reporting. Your responsibilities will include:
- Advising the CEO and Board of Directors on financial strategy and performance
- Overseeing financial operations including AR, AP, General Ledger, and Job Cost
- Leading annual financial statement reviews and audits
- Managing tax filings (federal, state, sales/use, payroll, and business licenses)
- Preparing and presenting accurate reports for executives, the board, and regulatory bodies
- Developing and managing the annual budget and cash flow projections
- Monitoring company investments and providing insights to leadership
- Administering our KSOP (employee stock ownership) plan, including its annual audit
We’re searching for someone who brings financial knowledge and strong leadership, along with a background in construction accounting. Our ideal candidate will have:
- A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (MBA or CPA a plus)
- 10+ years of financial experience, including 5+ years in the construction industry
- A solid understanding of construction finance (WIP reporting, project accounting, cost control)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to explain financials to a variety of stakeholders
- A collaborative approach and a strategic mindset
