Silver Lake & Mill: 200 Years of Stories, with Cheryl Lyon and Deb Thompson
A hybrid presentation to celebrate the bicentennial year of the Silver Lake & Mill in Dayton, Virginia, with history, anecdotes, and images that represent the people and events that formed and changed the surrounding community.
Owner of Silver Lake Mill, Cheryl Lyon has had a life-long love of all things historical. After purchasing the mill over 20 years ago to house a business she accidentally started, Cheryl has had the opportunity to explore the remarkable history of the mill and surrounding community. Her research work and that of many others will be included in a retirement project: a new book, Silver Lake: 200 Years of Stories, to be released in the late fall.
Rockingham County native Deb Thompson spent more than 30 years in various roles in the communications field, including serving as the Public Relations and Communications Director for Sentara RMH. In retirement, she is a freelance writer and editor. She enjoys helping people tell their stories, most recently as a contributor to the upcoming Silver Lake: 200 Years of Stories publication.
