OCP Gala Fundraiser

Due to the pandemic, Our Community Place (OCP) is combining our fall Gala and Christmas Concert fundraisers into a single event. Local renowned chef Tassie Pippert will be our guest chef! Place your order online by Wednesday, October 14, and we’ll deliver it to your door on the 17th. Please be generous - this is our only fall fundraiser! Our theme is “Mask-erade.” Masks are critical for our protection during the pandemic. They are saving lives. People are celebrating the triumph of life over death across our nation by embracing and creating masks with humorous, artistic, beautiful, and life- affirming designs. Help us overcome our frustration with COVID by turning our masks of fear and separation into a masquerade celebrating the goodness of life!

ORDER OF EVENTS (for instructions to access the livestream, go to the OCP website)

Beginning at 2pm: watch via livestream as our chefs work with Tassie to prepare your food! Celebrities make guest appearances while you have to guess who they are behind the mask!
4:30-6:30: watch live as we deliver meals. Greet us at your door with your favorite mask. Creativity encouraged but not required! We will livestream our deliveries (indicate in your order if you do not want to be filmed). Musicians will regale us from afar with their musical skills.
6:30-8pm: Tune-in for our main event: more unmasked celebrities, community member testimonies, music, an virtual auction,1 annual OCP update, and watch the guitar climb the pole to our goal of $20,000.

GUEST CHEF – TASSIE PIPPERT

Tassie Pippert is a Lecturer in the Hart School of Hospitality, Sport, and Recreation Management at JMU. She won the 2016 Charles Harris Award of Distinction for Teaching with Technology, and previously served as JMU’s Director of Development from 2005 to 2010. She serves on the boards of Blue Ridge Community College Foundation and the corporate board of

Virginia Public Media. Pippert also hosts a cooking and wine show for Virginia's Public Media (PBS) called Un-Wine'd. She is a certified chef and wine specialist. Her gourmet creations are sure to pair well with a feast of flavorful stories!

Closer to the event we will post info on our website on how to access the livestream from your

phone or computer. In the meantime, prepare a great mask for us!

Donations: OCP’s goal is to raise $20,000 during this fall event. Anyone can order online, meal reservations are $75/person. However, to reach the goal, we need folks to make donations on top of the event cost. Online, during ordering, there will be an opportunity to add an additional donation. You can also give us an extra donation check at the door during delivery, or go online anytime to our website to give. Thank you for supporting OCP!
