Find out about the proposed improvements for the section of Interstate 81 northbound and southbound that extends from mile marker 242.0 to mile marker 248.8 in the City of Harrisonburg. This is in the area of Interstate 81 exit 243 to exit 247.This project will involve a change and/or break in limited access control.

Come see the plans to widen Interstate 81 by adding an additional lane in each direction between mile marker 242 and mile marker 248.8 as part of the Interstate 81 Corridor Improvement Program.

Review the proposed project plans and the National Environmental Policy Act document in the form of a Categorical Exclusion (CE) at the public hearing or at VDOT’s Staunton District Office located at 811 Commerce Road in Staunton, VA 24401-9029, 540-332-9075 or 1-800-367-7623, TTY/TDD 711. Property impact information, relocation assistance policies and tentative construction schedules are available for your review at the above address and will be available at the public hearing.

In compliance with the National Historic Preservation Act, Section 106 and 36 CFR Part 800, information concerning the potential effects of the proposed project on properties listed in or eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places is provided in the environmental documentation.
