Intermediate Sashiko Embroidery Workshop (Virtual)
Join the Virginia Quilt Museum and teacher Sandy Maxfield for this fun virtual workshop.
Sashiko is a traditional Japanese hand embroidery technique using stunning geometric patterns. In this class with Sandy Maxfield, you will go beyond the commercial pre-printed kits and learn how to draft and mark your own sashiko patterns. Use your sashiko skills to make table mats, wall hangings, bags, and many other projects. The creative possibilities are endless! If you have not taken a basic sashiko class but you feel adventurous, you can still take this class. There will be a quick review of basic sashiko stitching techniques.
Class Supplies:
-
Purchase the class kit ($14.00) using the link that will be provided after you register for the class. Class kit includes 1/2 yd fabric, sashiko thread, sashiko needles, marking pencil, and free shipping. Note that the kit cost is in addition to the registration fee for the workshop.
-
You will need to provide your own scissors, pencil sharpener, thimble (optional), and a quilting ruler. (Something like the Dritz 1" x 6" ruler will be sufficient, but if you have a larger square or rectangle quilting ruler that will work fine.)
