Denton Family Foundation Golf Tournament

The annual Denton Golf Tournament is the primary fundraising event of the Denton Family Foundation. Every year, the Denton Family Foundation organizes a golf tournament to benefit a local nonprofit, and this year OCP is the recipient! Since 1998, the Foundation has given approximately half a million dollars to local nonprofit organizations. The event is held at Lakeview Golf Club, east of Harrisonburg, with beautiful views of Massanutten and the Valley.
Since 2008, Our Community Place has served the housing insecure in Harrisonburg. OCP is primarily a day shelter, providing breakfast and lunch; showers and laundry; free Wifi; mail services; and engaging and empowering activities.
OCP also has offers intensive case management, working with community members to apply for state benefits; obtain IDs and birth certificates; access other agencies and services including health and social services; help find employment and housing; and be a supportive listener and activist. OCP also acts as a representative payee for several individuals so they can stay housed.
Recently, OCP has purchased a rental property to lease to community members who face significant housing barriers that prevent them from accessing housing elsewhere. OCP’s case managers continue to work with community members after they are housed to help keep them housed and also remain part of our community. Learn more about OCP at www.ourcommunityplace.org.
