Heirloom Markets
Heirloom Markets Bring Fresh Tradition to Historic Dayton This Summer
Something fresh is growing in Dayton this summer—and it’s rooted in history.
Heirloom Markets will debut on the fourth Thursday evenings of June through September, transforming three historic Dayton, Virginia, locations into a lively community market experience filled with local flavor, artisan craftsmanship, old-fashioned skills, and small-town charm. The markets will take place from 5–8 pm on June 25, July 23, August 27, and September 24.
Hosted collaboratively by Rocktown History, Fort Harrison, and Virginia Quilt Museum at Silver Lake, Heirloom Markets invites visitors to slow down, stroll through historic spaces, and experience a market inspired by tradition, craftsmanship, and conversation.
Guests can expect:
- Farm-fresh vegetables, flowers, fruits, and goods
- Locally baked treats and handmade wares
- Artists, craftsmen, and heritage-inspired vendors
- Food trucks and picnic-style suppers
- Live entertainment
- Old-time demonstrations and hands-on conversations
- Free admission to participating history sites throughout the evening
Rather than a typical vendor market, organizers describe Heirloom Markets as a “heritage experience” — blending shopping, storytelling, local food culture, and historic places into one memorable evening.
The three participating sites each offer a different atmosphere and experience:
- Rocktown History — 382 High Street
- Fort Harrison — 335 Main Street
- Virginia Quilt Museum at Silver Lake Mill — 2328 Silver Lake Road
Organizers are also welcoming vendors who celebrate traditional methods, heritage skills, handmade goods, gardening, local agriculture, and creative craftsmanship. Vendor spaces are available for $15 per market date.
