    Way to Go is a non-profit organization whose mission is to empower low-income, working individuals in Harrisonburg-Rockingham to improve their quality of life by assisting them with their transportation needs. Way to Go understands a lack of reliable, dependable, and safe transportation significantly prohibits community members from maintaining employment, accessing essential community services, and reaching overall well-being. Way to Go provides immediate transportation assistance required to keep low-income workers mobile so that they can remain employed - which is essential in order to attain self-sufficiency and financial independence. We provide a hand-up, not a hand-out. Client services provided by Way to Go include either assistance with maintaining or obtaining a vehicle.

    On average, Way to Go serves 200 households annually in Harrisonburg-Rockingham with transportation services. All clients served fall below 200% of the Federal Poverty level and are referred to our organization for services by a social worker, case manager, or other community leader familiar with the client's work history and financial need.

    Transportation services, particularly vehicles, can lead to enhanced economic outcomes for low-income working families, such as:
    - ability to get to different types of jobs;
    - longer tenure in jobs;
    - higher employment rates and shorter unemployment spells;
    - increased earnings;
    - reduction in absenteeism from work;
    - greater access to goods and services needed for a healthy lifestyle; and
    - increased and enhanced social relationships.
