About Us

Located in downtown Harrisonburg, this hands-on, educational mecca features over 16 galleries with a wide range of interactive experiences sure to engage the whole family. Founded in 2003, the 501(C)(3) organization welcomes nearly 80,000 annual visitors Working with individuals, business leaders, and community organizations, they are able to offer one-of-a-kind educational opportunities.

Community-inspired exhibits include: Merck Science Lab, WHSV TV-3 Studio, Friendly City Health Center and Dental Clinic, HEC It's Electric Experience, Super Service Center, Construction Zone, Virginia Theater, Great Outdoors, Down on the Farm, Cash Flow, Aviation featuring a real plane, Discovery Treehouse, two Early Childhood spaces for very young children and Maker City, a makerspace for youth 8+.

In addition to exhibits, Explore More offers 300 programs each year, including educational field trips for kids throughout the region. They also host birthday parties, Scouting events, and summer camps. The third floor features a teaching kitchen and
spacious multipurpose room to host workshops, camps and special events.
