SVEC awards $13,000 through Operation Round Up

ROCKINGHAM SVEC’s Operation Round Up Committee has selected eight community organizations throughout the Valley as the latest group of grant recipients.
 
The total amount to be distributed for this grant cycle is $13,000. Operation Round Up is SVEC’s charitable program that features a pool of money that grows as members voluntarily “round up” their electric bills to the nearest dollar each month.
 
Applications for the first grant cycle of 2023 will be available at svec.coop/ORU in the coming weeks.
 
The latest grant recipients are:
 
Augusta County
Allegheny Mountain Institute: To provide farm-fresh produce to Highland County families on a weekly basis.
Ride with Pride: For general operating support, such as student scholarships and horse care.
 
Rockingham County
Blue Ridge Free Clinic: For general operating support to assist patients in obtaining long-term, accessible, affordable, stable primary care.
Boys and Girls Club: For scholarships for Rockingham County clubs.
Explore More Discovery Museum: To support weekly toddler and preschool programs.
 
Shenandoah County
Community Care and Learning Center: To support the addition and renovation of bathrooms at its childcare center.
Shenandoah Valley Lutheran Ministries: To purchase diapers for A Small Hand toddler and infant pantry.
 
Winchester/Frederick County
Access Independence: To provide home modifications, adaptive equipment and technology to help people with disabilities live more independently in their homes.
