Nonprofits Start Preparing for Great Community Give 2024
(Harrisonburg, VA) – Great Community Give (GCG) is returning for its 7th year! It’s only fitting that Harrisonburg and Rockingham’s biggest day of giving opens its campaign on National Philanthropy Day, November 15.The 7th annual Great Community Give will accept eligible nonprofit registrations from November 15 until February 15. Returning and newly participating nonprofit organizations have three months to sign up for GCG 2024 at greatcommunitygive.org. Eligibility means having IRS 501(c)3 tax status and located in/serving Harrisonburg and Rockingham County, Virginia.
The Community Foundation of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County (TCFHR) hosts Great Community Give to benefit area nonprofits. The initiative boosts local causes and raises millions for area needs. In April 2023, over 7,600 donors came together and raised $2,000,545 for 148 organizations, surpassing donation goals. The latest edition brought GCG’s grand fundraising total to $7,118,248 since its beginning in 2018. This does not include the hundreds of thousands given generously by event sponsors. Over $450,000 has been given directly back to participating nonprofits in the form of prizes from sponsors.
Event organizers are animated for the 7th year of Great Community Give. Amanda Bomfim of TCFHR, has ideas on how the upcoming event will be special compared to years past. “Seven is a favorite number for many, including myself. I love the idea of incorporating the number seven in many things we will do this year. It’s also kind of perfect how the event falls on the 17th. I hope the community stays tuned for what we will do! We have a lot of fun things in the works.”
