A&J Development and Excavation, Inc., of Mt Crawford VA, has announced the recent hire of Frank Oncken of Bridgewater, VA. He is a graduate of Eastern Mennonite University and is the former CFO of Skyline Roofing and its associated companies. He will fill the role of Vice President of Administration and Finance at A&J. Oncken also serves as Chair-Elect of the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Chamber of Commerce, is a member of the Shenandoah Valley Economic Education Board, and is Vice President of the Blue Ridge Chapter of the Construction Financial Management Association. He has been with Skyline Roofing in Rockingham VA since March 2015, and started his role with A&J on Monday August 18th, 2019. Kathie Brandt, an owner at A&J, has held the position since 1999 and is retiring in September. Oncken will draw on his executive leadership experience to develop an even stronger and more unified team at A&J, with an emphasis on growth, workforce recruiting and retention, technology adoption, and sound financial and administrative management.
A&J is a full service site contractor founded in 1985 and offers excavation, concrete, paving and drilling & blasting services in the central Shenandoah Valley. A&J was recently awarded a $12.5M VDOT project to replace the Rt 11 bridge that crosses Interstate 81 in Mauzy, and will be finishing the road widening project on Massanetta Springs Road in Rockingham County this Fall. A&J has also recently completed site work for the new Cold Storage Facility owned by InterChange Group in Mt. Crawford.
