The RAD is responsible for the development and implementation of strategies for the solicitation of major gifts, including outright and deferred/planned. Manage a portfolio of 150-200 rated prospects that have a capacity and inclination to make a gift of $25,000 or more to support a wide range of university initiatives. The RAD will work collaboratively with other advancement colleagues, the alumni engagement office, vice president for advancement, faculty and staff to achieve the fundraising goals for the university. The RAD will facilitate key constituent gatherings and all campaign activities that will take place in the regions to which they are assigned
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE: Four years or more of demonstrated fundraising success preferably in higher education or nonprofit sector, or equivalent success in finance, wealth management, sales or related fields. Demonstrated successful track record in the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major donors. Or, demonstrated success working with clients in sectors such as financial planning, insurance, or sales. Working knowledge of planned giving and/or wealth management techniques.
SPECIAL SKILLS: Impeccable character, trustworthy. Passion for EMU’s mission and programs. Ability to make “cold calls” via phone for prospect discovery and cultivation. Ability to manage stress with multiple competing priorities while maintaining a positive attitude and affect. Knowledge of development data systems. Energetic, self-motivated, curious, and results oriented. Superior relational and speaking and writing skills. Skilled in Google platform, Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word, and Power Point. Available to travel and work some evenings and weekends. Knowledge and appreciation for the Mennonite/Anabaptist tradition is helpful.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Within the general range of an office environment with the ability to accommodate irregular evening and weekend hours involving extended travel.
